Jonathan Handey appears in Alagasco’s latest energy efficient short where he discusses how window coverings can help save energy.
Alagasco, “Energy Efficient Tips – Window Shades,” 2.19.2014
Windows can be a source of heat and cool transfer and add to your energy costs by increasing the need for heating or cooling. Window coverings can drastically help reduce the transfer of hot and cold air. In the warmer months, keep window coverings closed during the day to keep heat out. During the cooler months, open window coverings during the day to let sunlight in, and close them at night to help keep warm air inside. Drapes can help to also reduce drafts that may be coming through window sashes or frames. Drapes or blinds both work to help keep your energy bills lower.
